I have a 94 325ic and I believe it came from the factory with an automatic top, but the motor was gone when I bought it in '09. It only had two owners before me, so one of them must have pulled it. Because of this, the boot lid doesn't latch down. I put snaps into the lid so when it's down it doesn't come flying up.
Anyway, is there a way to put in a manual top latch so that the lid can lock down into place?
My vert came with a full auto top that didn't work and rather than mess with it I converted to manual using parts from a 318 vert, I believe base 323 verts also had manual tops.
You'll need the handle, latches, cable and a little junction box where the latch cables meet the handle cable. The LH rear panel is marked on the back and shows you exactly where to cut for the handle. It's a simple conversion, finding the parts can be a bit more difficult or so I've heard.
Taking my hardtop off soon for paint, when I do I can snap some pics for you!

Sounds doable then. If it's not too expensive I'll buy the parts from you but with me doing a manual swap right now and Christmas coming up, I'm trying to conserve money.
Could I do it by pure instinct alone, or is there a nice diy to follow somewhere?
