    Before you worry about performance upgrades I would replace the entire cooling system first off. Check the power steering system for leaks. Change every fluid in the car. Inspect all of the boots, bushings and bearings.

    Unless you don't intend to drive it at all during the process of rebuilding it.

    You don't want to be the proud new owner of a heavy paperweight. Been there and done it.
