Gear lever and SEM switch getting hot

    Hello all,

Here is the situation: I'm driving 30km, mostly 80kmh with little traffic. Arrive at destination, gear lever and switch ambient temperature. Switch off car.

Switch on car half an hour later and drive the same distance back home under same conditions: gear lever and switch are very hot.
    Whole time in economy mode.

Tranny shifts fine and gives off the usual whirls and howls. I'm not sure what might be causing the heat, perhaps it's normal?

    Thanks, George

    PS weather is about 22C
