Angry please help! Mechanic erased Dinan software!

    Hello all,

I have never before encountered incompetence such as this with my BMWs!!!
I went to a "german specialist" for my BMW . the service engine light was one.
He said it was the Mass Flow thing. (Pardon my lack of knowledge on specifics).

After 3 days, the light came on again. This time he says it's the Catalytic Converter 1. So he replaces that.
I hear nothing from him for a week.
Despite the Dinan 3 sign on the bak, the dinan exhaust and the upgrades, INCLUDING the Dinan software sticker by there the software is uploaded, this idiot deleted my Dinan Software!!!

Now I am petrified because he said he called around and he was told he coudl "Remove the whole dinan software system" and go back to stock...OR get the software reloaded.

What car am I going to get back? I heard the Dinan software is registered with my VIN, but who installs this? Is it free? Is there additional tuning necessary after the Dinan 3 software is installed????

I want to take the care back from him, but I'm not paying for his mixup of deleting my software. Any advice or am I blowing this out of proportion?

    Thank you!

If your mechanic 'erased' it, then it is his responsibility to get it re-installed on his dime. Pretty simple.

Where in California are you located?

If you are close, your quickest answer is to go to a Dinan service center. They will likely check the software install status and reinstall if necessary.

I was with a friend that had this done a few weeks ago for a car he had recently purchased. The invoice showed no cost for the software verification. He did have other work done at the same time, so I can't be certain that it's always free.

Have the tech call dinan and see how they can figure it out it just needs to be reinstalled no problem
