    Delphi speed sensor experiences

Does anyone have experiences with a Delphi speed sensor there is a very large difference in price between the Delphi and oem or even Siemens and I want to hear if anyone has had success with these sensors or hear horror stories.

My experience thus far is either this sensor doesn’t work correctly or my wiring is messed up in a way I haven’t seen yet just wanted to know more before I buy another.

Just be aware there are 2 different types of wheel speed sensors.
Early cars up to 8/98 build used an inductive type sensor and later cars after 8/98 use a hall effect device. These type use a blue coloured connector plug.
Not sure what colour the earlier type are - perhaps black connector plug.
The 2 types are not interchangeable.

I've been running a $15 eBay sensor on my 530i without any problems for about 3 years now.

Thanks for the info on the sensor mine 528 was built 3/98 and the sensor I picked up from Fcp was listed as for the rear up to 9/98.

Also thanks for replying about your eBay sensor sounds like things are pointing to the wiring in the wheel well that feels fine.

Looks like the wheel well may need to come out.

Anyone else with experiences I’ll be glad to hear them

The connector is bluish purplish is this correct because the wiring looks perfect

Bought a Delphi; it was made in China; it lasted about a year.

Resolution is I got a replacement sensor from Fcp euro then my plug turned to dust so I had to wire it direct so in the end it was either a bum new sensor or the plug somehow.
