    Hi Anri,

    This is very interesting and enlightening. I was always under the assumption that the primary pump was the external one. My former e24 was a 1983 635csi euro model and it only had an external pump. I've replaced that car with a US-spec 1986 model that I've completely converted to euro spec, including the engine, transmission and differential. That car has two pumps.

    I would be very interested in converting to the single in-tank unit as you describe. Would you please quote me the cost of the pump and its conversion or just the conversion if you can tell me where to purchase the DW 2251 unit which I can ship to you for the mods.

    Is the fuel level sender part of the new unit or can I use my existing one?

    I'm having trouble with the posts too, please update it!

    I've heard good things about the TRE series of pumps, I was thinking about upgrading to this TRE340 in-tank version, replacing both pumps on my car. They also make several external inline-type pumps that look suitable, like the TRE-507.
