    Post Power Steering hose questions

    Hey everyone,

I was planning to replace my power steering hoses and was looking at the parts diagrams on RealOEM.

    http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=32_0694

Now i have a couple questions regarding this:

    1) I know this is probably a stupid question, but the transmission cooler and transmission lines are a completely different system and isolated from the power steering lines correct?

    2) Also, if I do undertake this job, what else would you guys recommend replacing while I'm there? Any o rings? Crush washers, etc? Or would those come with the new hoses?

    http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=33_0452

    3) Lastly, In the diagram above, where exactly does the SLS lines return? I see the hose (#20) going out from the reservoir, but I don't see where it comes back to. What does hose (#15) connect to?

    Thanks

PSJR, would you happen to know anything about the SLS lines?

Thank you for your reply, the question I had was where does hose #15 connect to as that part/pump looked unlike anything else in the parts database.

I have found that that is the power steering pump as the one for power steering hoses is the regular ps pump, not he sls one, even in the case the car has sls.

There is a small SLS line that goes into the reservoir, I believe that is the return from the rear. And that WILL leak and should be replaced with the others - did psjr include it above?

The reservoir on SLS cars has 3 connections, 1 to supply the power steering/SLS tandem pump, 1 steering return and 1 very small return line for the SLS.

This small hose is very prone to leak and really needs an original style oerlikon clip rather than a worm drive type.
