well, you're right. i assumed he drives.

you shouldn't drive with a cracked piston anyway. could fall apart at any moment and do a huge amount of damage.

i can't really believe it is really cracked, the picture shows something but it's hard to tell from the computer if it really is a crack, if it is really cracked i can't believe it could still hold up combustion pressure. or maybe not long anymore.

The aux fan fuse starts to blow when the fan is old and the bushing/bearing wears out and has too much resistance. So if your going to keep the car and fix it then put the aux fan on your list.

I don’t recall reading that the OP had done a belt driven fan delete.

He shouldn't need his aux fan. Adding airflow fixed the problem. Ergo, I'm assuming there's something wrong with his mechanical fan.

That’s an assumption. You might have two of those. Anyway, I hope the OP updates this thread if and when he finds the answer/solution.

Cars are designed with a fan clutch if it's not there alll your thoughts about air flow are wrong. Fan clutchs are designe to work in slow stop and go traffic. At that speed there is no air flow. The heat sensing spring will sense the heat off of the radiator and engage at slow speeds and disengage at higher speeds, more air flow. The electric fan has two jobs the help back up the fan clutch in hot weather and to remove the heat from the ac condenser which is mounted in front to the radiator so the radiator now has more heat to get rid of. if you maintain your cooling system it will operate just fine. Don't remove the fan clutch
