Folks, it's been a (long) while since I had to put one of these in. Do I really have to bend the steel bar to get the two 'ears' to go into the loops at the back of the trunk?
That seems like a LOT of bending... even with the curve 'downwards' to sit flush against the carpet as it should...
Yes, it does take a surprising amount of bending, but it should be springy enough to spring back to shape.
Hah! I remember having the same question when I had to install the cargo net for the first time. It was certainly not obvious. But, yes, you will need to bend the rod to snap it into position.

Yes, you do have to bend the rod, the tension is what keeps the net firmly in place

OK thank you everyone for the confirmation. I shall try tomorrow morning and report back.
Ha - I wasn't even sure that my JY net had anything to do with the BMW. Big bend. Love how it holds trunk stuff on the front of the trunk.
I have mine in with the "step" of the metal up. It seems to fit well that way. The metal should be the other way flush against the trunk mat?

So the net went in - but the bar, effectively, stays a little bent. Oh well.
It doesn't work with the arch upwards.
