    2007 Alpina B7

    Hello, bought a 2007 Alpina B7

I'm new to the E65 family. Ive been a long time E38 owner. Loved evey minute of it.
    2007 Alpina B7
Came with Blacked out Alpina rims. Not a huge fan of them but I'll survive as the car is a beast when the gas hits. Found it odd that the gas pedal was not as jumpy as my Dinan 7 was. Read that the B7 actually starts in 2nd gear. Thats something I have together used to unless I'm in switchtronic mode. Getting used to the new beast is like dating a 20 year old and its gonna take baby steps to learn how to tame her. Read Sport mode is useless
My passenger seat doesn't recline. Knob cap is off. Need to learn how to put it back on but somehow doesn't twist like my driver side ?

Any tips from the pros of does and do nots of this beast7 ?

The things that can go wrong absolutely scare me on this B7. The guides breaking on the e38 is mere mortal to a valve stem seal leaks on the B7
I hope she is good to me for a while ( knock on wood)

Gorgeous car and welcome aboard! I too previously owned an e38 (750) and now own a B7. The e38 didn’t go far as I sold it to my step dad.

The B7 is truly awesome from a performance perspective. I wouldn’t be too worried about fixes and maintenance If you were comfortable with DIY on your e38. More modules on this car, but those are typically easier to replace.

I have a thread over on another major forum that covers what I am doing for maintenance on my B7 and I’m trying to document DIY guides as I go.

Let me know if you have any questions!

thnx, I have a few annoying things to fix
1)Left rear PDC sensor is out( error message says) so whole system is off?
2)Passenger seat control knob cap is off. Seat won't recline only move forward and reverse, up or down.
    3) CD changer wants to come out but the door won't open
    4) the pass window is slow going up, not sure if its the tint or dying regulator.
    5) tint on tal lights but I removed it today with hairdryer on high heat

Yes indeed. I’m on this one because it’s the absolute best for E31 and E38. But for E69 and E65, the other BF.com forum is way more active.

    Here are my to do`s

needed attention badly on the outside...Inside was pretty much flawless seats, armrest, mats etc
    My issues were as follows
    1) PDC Sensor on front bumper bad= Replaced ebay for $10 and all works great now
    2) Passenger seat control Dial is broken off= ordered off ebay
    3) On idle for a long period of time the exhaust will start smoking= Valve stem seals job needed....Temp Solution is add LIQUID MOLY 2020 to a oil level full engine. You`ll see almost instant results in 200-300 miles driving
I did pass California Smog test as it was required for registration. whew!

    Must do`s:

    4) wheels were curbed and bent...Gonna send them out for refurbishing
    a) Tires were bad and leaking causing Tire pressure warning constantly. I had to bend some of the rims back with a rubber mallet so they could hold air...bought all 4 used tires for temp..Need to diagnose suspension , struts before I buy new tires
    5) paint needed a detail badly- My B7 is black- detailing the 7 I have accumulated 10 hours so far...needs more
    6) Gassing the car is a chore. You need to keep pressing the gas nozzle as it auto clicks off= needs new Charcoal canister
    7) transmission in low speeds bumps on occasions- Maybe a Transmission adaptation reset? or transmission fluid change?

The PO did a lot before me buying it with receipts
    1) Supercharger
    2) Alternator
    3) Battery
    4) valve covers
    5) spark plugs

This picture looked wrong to me. Then I saw the problem. There are covers missing.

Great price. Is that for both covers or just the left side super charger cover?

Yeah. Where did you find that? I just have a broken tab, but for that price I’ll replace.

K&N is absolutely the WORST thing you can do to your ALPINA. You are better off with a normal paper cartridge filter (WIX is very good). The reason is that the oil you need to put on the K&N filter to make it work properly, will collect on the MAF wire. When you shut off your engine, that wire is super-heated for a brief second to burn off any impurities so it gets the correct reading when you start your car again. If however, there is oil on it, that wire will have a considerably lower lifespan. The HP gains claimed by using a K&N filter are also ridiculous - even if they were true, how much faster do you think your 5,000 car will be with an extra "25HP" (as claimed by K&N)? All you need to do is price a new MAF from ALPINA (they are different than the stock E65 ones).

I never stated I wanted the K&N filter for horsepower gains, sure that's the upside but K&N filters breathe better. Im not wanting to remove the Alpina Stock air box. I want to use just a K& N filter inside the stock air box. I'm used to K&N filter. I had Dinan Cold Air intake in my e38 Dinan 7 for 7 years..
I saw the wix filter for $26 at Nappa auto parts. May just go with that..
