2007 BMW 525XI Can I swap an "I" Engine into XI model 3.0L

I'm looking to buy a 2207 525XI BMW. Can I swap an "I" engine into a "XI" model BMW? Do I have to just swap oil pans or anything else? What other BMW model engines will fit?

I assume you are talking about a n52, I6 engine. A n52 2.5 or 3.0, with the same version Seimans Engine Management ECU from donar and receiving car, would be top of list with the oil pan swap.

I'm a little confused by your response. Are you saying I need the engine computer from the donor car and why if that's the case? I thought the only difference between the XI engine was the oil pan because of the front diff. I'm assuming it's the N52 which only makes sense. I assume its the exact same engine other than the oil pan

What im saying is, whatever Engine Management system the 07 525xi has, ensure the donor engine has the same Engine Management System. As a hypothetical example, the 07 525xi has a Siemens MS45.1 Engine Management System, ensure the donar car was also fitted with the same Management System.
