I ordered new leather seat covers for my 86 325e coupe and Lseat.com advertises the covers as those for a sedan. Is there a difference? I though I read somewhere that the contour of the seat bottoms were different between the sedan and coupe? I have a sedan seat bottom that I can use if the covers are specific to a sedan seat bottom but, would like to keep the coupe bottom if the contour is all that different.
how, if at all, do the two bottoms differ?

I once put a coupe backseat in my sedan, and found it stick forward a bit more than the sedan version.
You could tell when opening the rear doors, but no issue whatsoever.
I guess the coupe backseat is a bit larger since you won't need the legroom for getting in the car from the side.
NB. No experience with the other way round, which is your situation.
Yep, 4-door rear seats are rounded at the corners for ingress/egress.

So, a kit to re-upholster the rear seats would have to be coupe or sedan specific given the different contour of the bottom seat? LSeat.com where I ordered my leather upholstery kit from is asking for pictures of my rear seat bottoms. Fortunately I have both a coupe and a sedan seat bottom but, would like to keep the coupe rear seat if at all possible.

well, send them a pic of the seat bottom you are going to use, be it that or the other
No e30s again.
I sent them pictures to show the difference. The black seat bottom is out of a sedan and the tan one out of a coupe.

And how a sedan seat looks fitted in a coupe.

The picture of the rear seats on Lseats.com's website seem to show the more square cornered seat bottom of a coupe seat.

Anyone know if coupe and convertible are the same seat bottoms?
vert rear seats are only usable in verts.
That's because the convertible top arms need space to mount to the body and that removes a few inches of space from the rear seat. You can compare an m3 rear seat and a vert seat and look at the outer bolsters, the verts are much narrower.
