wide screen nav opening upon entering the car

I have a 2001 E38 750il with the wide screen nav. For the past month or so every time I enter the car the nav screen, on its own opens 3-4 times and then returns to the static position? Any suggestions as to what is causing this and how to stop it?

The cause is likely the micro-switch in the display housing board. BMW issued a TSB here:

Their fix was a replacement of the monitor unit, maybe someone has recovered normal operation without replacement?
