The previous owner of my car indicated there was an issue with the ASC-T hydro module causing the rear brakes to drag. Instead of rebuilding or spending $3300 for the new part, he bypassed the brake lines out of the top, re-routing them directly to the ABS module. He left the power steering connections / electrical connections intact into the bottom of the hydro module. To simplify this bypass further and cut down on possible leaks, is it possible to close the power steering loop to the hydro module?
Thoughts: Can I cap #1 using a standard bolt, effectively closing that port on the PS pump then just cap both of #25 out of the reservoir, or would that damage the pump? Or can I reroute #3 directly to the reservoir? Will removing pressure to the hydro module throw a code? Can that be coded out?
That looks like a <9/93 (early 94 model year) system, not 1995.
I deleted my (early) ASC entirely, but I also replaced the two-stage PS pump with a single-stage. That's a cleaner way to do it than capping off this and rerouting that. You won't get check engine codes, but I'd expect the ASC light to come on if it isn't already.
I can't answer your question definitively, but my guess is that plugging a pressure line on a pump is going to blow something up. Rerouting should be fine but inelegant to say the least.
Part # on the ASC-T unit is Bosch 265 202 106
ABS unit with bypassed lines
Right now the car throws no codes, ABS still works fine.

I deleted mine from my 4/93 530i wagon that I b40/6 speed swapped last year. I rewired the front harness for the later style ABS pump, welded the right brackets from my parts car into my wagon, and replumbed all of the brakes since the new ABS pump was a 3 channel pump. Mine leaked really bad and really made things a lot more complicated than they should have been on my project. I pulled the ASC+t light from the cluster as well. The ABS worked perfectly fine after I got done.
