I bought an avus M3 a few years ago with the plan on swapping it, but it is in really nice shape, and it feels a shame to tear it apart. So I just bought another 95 avus M3, this one is missing the hood, heights, engine, was an automatic, etc. I'm currently planning for an LS3/TR606 OEM+ DD build with the vorshlag kit. If I can find a shop to fab fenders that fit square e38 M parallel rears, I'd love it. It needs a lot of work, and I'm not sure on the timeline, but Im hoping see her on the road spring of '19.

+1 on that.

I have a very particular build in mind, and from what I've seen, most of these builds get pretty stripped down at one point. I will say that I plan on spending a fair amount of time initially verifying all the chassis wiring/electronics are in good shape before spending a bunch of money on parts.
I don't meant to sound like I'm dismissing your advice, the option is still on the table. But that car has 150K miles, good compression, no oil leaks... Seems a shame to rip her heart out.
I've been watching these threads for probably 7years now, and I think braap let me drive his down in Portland about 6 years ago.
well...here we are 4 years later.... it is at the body shop getting steel fabricated flares to fit the 10.5"x18" square wheel setup.... hopefully I can get some photos up in the next few months, but it is coming together. Lots of all new parts (BBK, ford 8.8" rear end, T56 magnum, GM performance LS3 with OBD1 conversion)
