    Need help with check engine codes

    Hello,

    I have a 2003 BMW 325i ULEV California edition. I cannot get it to pass smog to register it due to a check engine light condition. The car runs and starts fine with no rough idle or hesitation. Once cleared (like yesterday) I drove it on the freeway at a constant 50-55 for about 30 miles to get the computer controlling. After more than an hour of in town driving the light came back on.

    I scanned and found the following 5 codes using my Peake5...

    C2761 - secondary air system (I think this is just because it can't test due to the other codes, not positive though)
    C2897 - Camshaft sensor : output signal
    C2896 - Camshaft sensor : input signal
    C2767 - Camshaft sensor outlet : signal time
    C2895 - Crankshaft sensor signal (crankshaft sensor was changed out a couple years ago with an OEM one, but doesn't mean it's ok)

    I would appreciate any help you can provide in understanding if one thing is causing these codes or if it's multiple, etc.

    Welcome to the Forum!

    There are 2 camshaft position sensors on that car, so you need to know which one the codes are referring to.

    Second, are these the codes that come back after clearing them?

    Yes these came back after clearing... I was thinking it was both intake and exhaust (because it was saying input and output) but maybe I've erroed in that assumption

    Well Peake isn't known for providing accurate codes sadly enough. As I read them, it wasn't very clean if it was the intake or exhaust sensor that is bad.

    As for the SAS codes, check the vacuum lines first, as they tend to rot out with age.
