The 2j head flows like crap. The BMW I6 heads flow really well. So never.

Never. It would cost 6 times more than your car.

Fully ported and upgraded heads are around $3500 for us. They also have been shown to give close to 100 whp increase at same boost. Big dollar tho. For someone looking for 700+ on pump gas, it is a good option. If other fuels are not available, and you don't want to be pushing the limits of octane or heavily relying on meth.

Did you hear the part where he says he makes all the parts for the Getrag transmission? I wonder how many parts are interchangeable with our 420g.

Serious question- how similar are the ZF's and getrag internals? Anything interchangeable?

I'm just asking here but does a ported head like that head lose power down low and consequently increase lag?

Probably a little due to lower velocity at low flow levels much like an m50 intake manifold in place of an m52 manifold. Cam choice will also play a big role in low end power and response. I have one of those fancy heads and the mild schrick cams and a responsive efr 9180 and I don’t notice any difference down low compared to the same turbo on a stock head with stock cams but there probably is some.

I don't think we will see billet heads. These cars are cheap, the motors are cheap - no way most of us will pay 5k+ for a head.

Who remembers BavSol? They did a CNC cylinder head that Mike tested on his E36 (although I think they installed camshafts as well)

If I ever get my own CNC I want to work up a port on a head and map it to be able to replicate. I think if you could make a fixture to hold the head at the right angle you could do almost the whole intake port on a 3 axis mill and then turn it around and do the exhaust. I've done 3 m50's by hand but there is so much material that has to come out to make it the way I want it that it gets kind of exhausting.

It would realistically be more like $15K-$20K. The billet heads on the market for BBC's and Hemi's are like $8K-10K a piece and they are alot less complex.

What exactly is "the way you want?" What side needs the most work or is it a combination of both? Just slightly curious.
