I wanted to upgrade my radio, but when I connect a different radio it gives no sound
I am running the BMW RDS radio that came with my car and was wondering if you would know what to do so I could make my Becker indianapolis work.
Also would be nice to get an input if I should put the CD43 in or the Indianapolis. Which one would give better sound?
Here's how to do it:

You sure this will do the trick?
Why am I not getting any sound from the becker unit?
How did you connect the Becker Indianapolis - did you do something similar to what is described in the link?
Those were the instructions written when I fitted my Becker Indianapolis, so yes, it should work!

The BMW Bavaria C Professional RDS (Becker BE1801) and its non-RDS predecessor are rather unique head units. Unlike all other head units the BMW Bavaria C Professional is a 2-component system. The "head unit" in the center console is just a display/keyboard with cassette player. The actual radio tuner and amplifier is in a second unit mounted in the trunk near the E31 amplifier. In other words, the E31 amplifier is not fed with audio from the head unit in the center console but from the additional tuner/amplifier in the luggage compartment.
The different topology also means the radio harness is different. The BMW ETK lists different part numbers for the wiring of the Bavaria C Professional. Whereas with the normal wiring harness the speaker wires run from the E31 amplifier to the center console, the Bavaria C Professional harness runs the speaker wires to the additional tuner/amplifier next to the E31 amplifier. The same is probably true for the areal. Since the second component cannot be used by other head units, replacing the Bavaria C Professional (RDS) with any other head unit (BMW or aftermarket) is not going to work without replacing or at least modifying the radio harness as well...
So my only oporom is to change the harness
