So I have a 84 325e, couple of things I'd like to run by you guys so I hit a deer and messed up my front a bit so I tried getting a valance...it's the thin metal shroud behind bumper so I got one off of a 315i 89 I think and it somewhat match up, but the old valance had a top piece that broke off and was badly bent and can't be used, btw does anyone know the name of the piece, trying to find it so new one from the 89 315i and the middle piece is a little wonky, my question is could this work ??? Like would the headlight plastic pieces and grill work on this ??
Few things:
1. Welcome to the fold!
2. Your car and an 89 model year would use different front metal valances. You'll need one from 84 or 85 for an exact match (2 pieces), but anything through 87 will work I believe. The 86/87 valance will be 1 piece, but is made to fit behind the aluminum bumpers.
3. Minor, but there's no such thing as a 315i.
4. The metal valance piece goes up to the bottom of the grille. Above that would be the fender on each side, then the area under and behind the headlights which is part of the car's unibody. The radiator core support is the area around the radiator (surprising, I know); it can be cut out and a replacement piece can be either welded or bolted in. Either way, alignment of a new piece is critical.
