    Fault code 2E95 replaced alternator

So locales dealership told me my alternator was bad and was overcharging the system so I decided to change the alternator. Fast forward new alternator installed car still has same code of 2E95 generator current problem present I reset the code start the car re check code same fault code appears almost immediately. Could I possible have a defective alternator or something else. I bought a car quest brand alternator.

Did you ever figure out what was going on with your charging system? I've been having the same problem.

Alternator may have been rebuilt w/wrong regulator....one that doesn't respond to BSD signal from DME.

These alternators are NOT your old time AC Delco alternators. My original went bad (oil dripping into the windings from upper timing cover leak) and I replaced it with a reman Valeo from NAPA. They didn't have the equipment to test BMW alts - installed and was getting random voltage spikes, and modules restarting themselves.. Took a while monitoring it live with driving to see the voltage spike near 16, then trip the computers out. I would even get shift lever malfunctions etc. Replaced again, and the car is problem free.
