Greetings. I've recently run into this problem, and am split between getting an OEM BMW part and a Seimens VDO part. On pelicanparts.com it says Seimens is an OEM supplier, and there is about a $30 difference between this one and the one from BMW. I've read here that a lot of people have problems with aftermarket CPS's, but if Seimens is considered OEM is there really a difference between the two? I wouldn't mind saving a few bucks, but if it means the part might fail sooner than later I'll go with BMW. What are your thoughts/experiences?
I have an 2001 BMW 330ci Coupe.

Companies that supply parts to BMW often sell the identical part to other car makers. Why? The company can amortize the costs of R&D and manufacturing equipment across a larger number of parts. The difference between the more expensive part and the other identical part is that the latter doesn’t have the BMW logo. In fact, sometimes folks here have ordered the lower priced part and find that the BMW logo has been ground or sanded off! Btw, the lower priced part is referred to as an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) part.
