Car:
- 1992 BMW E30 Vert
Situation:
- Just got my car back from the mechanic from a ABS/Master Cylinder/Brake Booster replacement. (Not correlated but background info) Every time I turn my steering wheel to the right, the front right is creaking. I don't know what its from but its louder when the cars not moving. When I'm driving its not as loud, but still there. The springs and shocks were replaced not too long before I bought the car. (I bought the car a month ago)
were the strut bearings replaced ? first thing i would suspect. have a look at the front strut mounts to see if the rubber is cracking. rubber cracking is a good indicator of their relative health.
The rubber is good, no problems. I noticed that the sound is also coming from the back right as well.
Is your power steering fluid at the right level? Twist off the reservoir cap, and check the indicator that's on there.
Had a leak there in the past, and it made an intense sound that could be described as creaking.
Have you listened from outside the car btw?
A sound from the back when turning your wheel is quite odd.
I checked out that little boot below the spring for the suspension. The boot is a little chipped, so Im guessing thats where the sounds coming from?
Probably not, check your power steering fluid like 323i recommended.
If your e30 runs bad, switch to Megasquirt first. Then try new spark plugs, cap and rotor, wires, oxygen sensor, crank shaft position sensor, coolant temp sensor, air flow meter, idle control valve, throttle position sensor, digital motor electronics unit, harmonic balancer, fuel injectors, engine harness...
