Hello Jim@tirerack,
I've been eyeing up Dunlop Wintersport 3D/4D availability for a while. Haven't seen the size I am looking for as an option. Fewer sizes are available as time went on. Was hoping there would be an influx of inventory as winter got closer. I see a Wintersport 5 option available from Dunlop for sale in the EU with year old reviews already out there. Are we likely to see these in the US any time soon/ maybe next year? Or more sizes of the 3D/4D option this season?
Ideally looking for 245/45R17 to go on 17x8 wheels on an e39 540i. ( current set of 3Ds on there now )
Looking at the 255/45R17 as a possibility. Would rather go a little narrower to 235 than wider for a snow tire though. Think there would be fitment issues in the front of an e39 M-sport II height? Is that just a bit too wide for an 8" wheel, or close enough to not worry about. It listed as the smallest acceptable wheel for that tire.
Thanks
We did not get anything in the 245/45R17 this year. I do have a few 255/45R17 at 173.46 each. I also checked the 225/50R17 and nothing in those either.
Thanks Jim. I might squeak by another year on my current set. Maybe better options then.
Heard direct from Goodyear/Dunlop, that the Winter Sport 5 is not expected to ever be brought to the US. "Unfortunately there are no current plans to produce this tire in the U.S" Doesn't exactly answer what I asked, but pretty sure they mean no plans *for* the US.
