Is there a antifreeze sensor in my 2007 X3? My heat is not working.

    Please help,

i just bought a 2007 X3 and found out that there is no heat. The blower works but the air is cool. Someone said it cause be low antifreeze but my other friend said that there should be a sensor light on the dash.

The light on the dash indicates when the coolant is low. However, no system is foolproof. The first thing is to check the coolent level at the expansion tank under the hood. It should have an indicator rod that floats in the coolant.

The flow of hot coolant to the heater core is controlled by the climate control module (IHKA in BMWeze). Basically, it opens and closes the heater control valve located in the engine compartment. The valve is open unless the IHKA supplies it with 12VDC. That valve could be blocked.

The cooling system in these cars must be maintained properly. Failure to so can result in an expensive paperweight, an overheated BMW engine. Find a reputable indie shop that specializes in BMWs. Try www.bimrs.org.

And although it is probably obvious, the engine has to be warm in order to have any heat.

Check the level and bleed the system properly. You may have an air pocket in the heater core.
