Some of you may have bought an updated E36 cup holder from Origin Equipment a couple years ago. There was also a thread on the subject since this is such a sore spot for a street driven car.

They look like they work(ed) great, but the whole operation seems to have evaporated. I tracked down some contact info to a race shop in Atlanta called www.trmtuning.com (though some part of the operation seems to have originally been located in Salt Lake).
I've tried reaching out to them and have gotten no response. In any case, they don't seem to be in the interior trim business.
Does anyone have any info on them, possibly know where to get one (or two)? Is there anyone out there who bought one, but has since converted a street car to a track car and have one to sell?

I find my stock cupholder actually works great! Maybe not for cans, but if you drink from a can in a car you are a heretic and should be burned at the stake.
What are you trying to do, stick a coffee mug in that thing? Even if you glue it to the car all, of that drink SHOULD be coming out when you are fighting those turns!
EDIT: Also, TRM makes a great quality turbo kit and used to make coilovers that I would have bought if they had any stock.

At some point, I plan to get a 95 cup holder, the kind that has the donut insert, for my current car. When I had my 95, I didn't have any problems. It held everything fine. The 96+ stepped type are the ones that are terrible. I was thinking about starting a joke thread with pictures of weird stuff that it will actually hold.

YES - CANS!
I actually appreciate that it's graduated - an xl from In-N-Out actually fits snugly in the top ring (not that I get those very often). But I have a can or a glass Mexi-CAN Coke relatively frequently, and the way it rattles around drives me crazy. I had a friend 3D print a ring that sits inside the top ring and helps, but I thought there may be people out there who how to get one, know where they went, or got one but haves since turned their DD into a track car.
I've thought about this, too, but that's another reason I'm looking for info. If they're not going to make another run of them, they could at least turn the IP over to the community to enable 3D printers.

I must be the only one who doesn't mind the cup holders. However, I will say it depends what you're drinking.
7-Eleven cups: 96+ style
TacoBell aka fat American drinks: pre-96 style.

OP, you don't need to buy anything. Pop out the cup holders and cut the bottoms off.

Also, send me 10% of the money you saved!
I have one but it's in my car. It is great. If they are no longer around I'm not sure how you would get a hold of one.

I think I have two that I never used. I'll PM you.
Shipped. I'm probably going to regret this when I buy my third E36. Can we 3D print these things? I have a 3D printer at the office if somebody has the blueprints....

I'll send you one back if / when that happens! (actually, I'll send you my crappy OEM ones, which you can swap into the car you're selling and then keep the ones you have for your new car).
Also, I was planning to reserve the second one to try to 3D print these. Ideally I'd love to have the original guy at least share his CAD files if he's not going to keep making them, but I don't see why we shouldn't try 3D printing these.
There are 3D printers that can also scan the object. I think that would be the way to go. It'll likely need some refinement, but that would give us a much better starting point.

Any forward progress in the 3D printing plan?!
