Most of the people in this thread have cars faster than a 1000 sport bike on the highway.

I like motorcycles, but just like cars you get used to the performance and there's always somebody faster.

The e85 really widens the efficiency island on any compressor map where on pump it would be too hot.
To be clear the efficiency of the compressor is unaffected by the fuel type. The efficiency doesnt change as the compressor shape nor housing changes.

    No doubt.

The reason I mentioned it is that the car breaking, the high running costs, and frustrating downtime seemed to be the topic of the thread.

Yes, cars can be made faster, but not for $10k. It's really hard to beat the dollars to power to weight of a bike.

Lol, I drove my e36 to work today, I have bike parts in the trunk. One car is always down it's good to have fun options, just don't ride around like an ass and your fairly ok.

They do? That I doubt very much.

Maybe a few in here against a completely stock older 1L with a god awful rider... maybe..

    Heres what you do.

Take the boost reference off the bottom of the gate, and put it on the top of the gate.

Let nature take care of the rest.

I love my bike but don't have enough riding gear, the cash to buy it, the motivation to buy it, and nothing fits my fat ass. Anyone want a 2006 Honda 919 in excellent riding condition? Minor cosmetic scratches but nothing serious enough to care about.

To be fair though, the E36 had such a low crash test score that I think my chances in full gear of crashing on a bike might be better then crashing in the BMW lol.

Not even that, people tend to forget that motorcycles have terrible aero drag. Usually a 135 mph trap speed car will be able to beat a motorcycle with a 140-145 mph trap from a ~60 mph roll. Most of the more modernish 1000cc bikes are around the 145 and a little over mark.

Another really big factor in total acceleration from a motorcycle is 60-70 mph is an awkward spot where first gear goes for another 10 or 20 mph but second gear is out of the powerband. Then you're also into wheelie potential.

That said, it's nice to just have a motorcycle that you can go buy factory parts for and never do anything other than maintenance.

Liter bikes don't really start getting fast until triple digit speeds. They dont have much torque, and what they have is generally made at a very high RPM. To contrast, my FZ09 is significantly quicker than thise bikes from like 60-120mph, but then it falls flat in its face. It's a torque monster without much top end, relatively speaking.

But it runs 10s completely stock and new for about $6500. My point is really just that the costs are far less and the machines are bulletproof mechanically.

    Turbo a bike!

Maybe they need a driver mod? Pulling away "easy" doesn't make any sense to me from what I've seen on a properly ridden modern 1L bike.

Most of the bikes you listed trap 150+ stock with a decent rider, and they have power to weight, even from 60 mph I doubt you would pull away until maybe 180+ MPH. Not saying it didn't happen to you, but a good rider makes all the difference on a bike (more so than a driver in a fast car). Also most of these bikes at stock wheelbase will pick the front tire in 4th gear meaning they have to throttle (if the bike doesn't do it for you like the BMW would in normal settings).

With a tune, pipe and sprocket my friends S1000RR traps 158-162 mph in the 1/4... you need well over 1000 whp to attempt to have a go with him.

Simple, set a goal and build it! Reliable street E36 = 550-600 whp. Over that ups the effort and $$ alot. A drag car is not a reliable nor good street car, never will be. Can't have it all in one package. If you want both, you need two.

The new R1 has traction control, wheelie control, sequential quick shifter, launch control from the factory.

You can just get on it and hammer it WOT and the thing will just go with no drama. It's pretty nuts.

That's the great thing about bikes. There's literally a bike for every purpose and every person.

I like to fly under the radar. A man in my profession doesn't fair well if he just advertises the murder of hookers on the internet.
