Oil Change after Break-in Period for M2?

I got a '18 M2 a couple of weeks ago. I'm retired so I don't usually drive it every day, and therefore have only 500+ miles on it so far. I'm breaking it in by-the-book for the recommended 1200 miles, while I acclimate myself to the MT after several years of automatics-- a '07 335i Sedan and a '12 335is. I can't remember the 335is procedure and the M2 OM just says to bring it to the drive-in service lane at 1,200 miles, and "Have drive-in checkup maintenance performed."
Has anyone been through this "checkup" lately?
    Thanks, Chas

Hi Chas - this is just a pre-caution 'maintenance' to make sure everything is working perfectly, as it should. I had a friend that had to do this as well with their new car. More of a quick once over than anything else.

    Hey Walter,
I too just purchased an M2 from my sales department on black Friday, I'm the BMW service manager at BMW of Ann Arbor. the run in service at 1200 miles does include an oil change, but you don't reset the counter for the next oil change. here is a clip I cut and paste from BMWs AIR shop diagnostic system. It tells you what's included
    "Repair instruction

    Service - running-in check (7 FRU) No. 00 00 600

    ui-buttonui-button

    • Renew engine oil and oil filter.
    • Renew final drive oil.
    • Reset the "Pre-delivery check" CBS display.
=> The running-in check must be deactivated via the diagnosis system (system functions: Reset CBS -> Deactivate running-in check).
Note: Do not reset the "Engine oil" CBS display!
    • Carry over maintenance work in the Service History of the vehicle."

I hope this answers your question about the run in service. I had to put my M2 away for the winter with only 800 miles on it. Michigan winters aren't the best for performance tires on rear wheel drive cars, much like NJ I'm sure. I can hardly wait for spring.
let me know if there is anything I can help with.
      Kind regards,
      Mark
