I currently have manual vinyl seats in my 2003 325i. I am upgrading to leather seats taken from a 2004 wagon. The new seats have electronic lumbar adjust and are heated. My question is whether the current cable connectors in my 2003 are compatible with the male connectors on the new seats? I am guessing that they are not wired to accept the electronic lumbar adjust and the heat. However, all I really need is that the safety components are compatible and will still work.
Welcome to the Forum!
Yes, it should fit if both came out of the same year. The downside is if you don't have heated seats already, it is a PITA to wire them in. I am not sure about the lumbar, unless they are both power seats, then that might be possible.

Thanks Dworthy. The electric lumbar adjust and heated seats are out of a 2004 325i wagon. I would like to install them in my 2003 325i sedan. I just want to be sure that the connectors are identical so that I don't have to fuss with them. I don't care about getting power to the heated seats - I just want to upgrade to leather because the vinyl on the driver's side seat is so badly torn up that I can hardly stand to sit in the thing...
I see, but yes the plug should be the same, a yellow one.

Darin, does the car’s seat wiring harness have the necessary connectors? Doesn’t the car have to be ordered with the heated seats for the harness to have the connectors?
Marc,
Not really as if you want the heated seats, there is a position in the connectors for that. Just look at it this way: BMW uses one plug, they just add in the wires in specific connectors for the optional stuff. So the seatbelt chime will work, but if the car is not wired for heated seat, you will need to add that wire or harness into the car. Yes that sucks, as they started doing this about the early 90's. My old E-28 was mostly plug and play for everything as it didn't come with power anything. I just ran that harness from the say the doors to the block under the dash and installed a fuse.
