    Suspension issues (continued)....

So,my ‘man’ changed some control arms, and a steering arm thingy....the shimmy is bad both going up through 60mph and braking at speed....super death wobble....I noticed the gaps between the wheels and back of the wheel well (arch) are significantly different....one side I can get two fingers in, the other less than one....any ideas, has he put the arms on the wrong sides ?....etc....it’s getting boring now....cheers fellas....

That doesn't look right. Was the car ever involved in a collision? There really isn't any way you can install the arms "backwards". Are you sure they are the correct arms? E31 not interchangeable with anything else when it comes to control arms. Really can't help you without you doing some homework, like seeing what the part numbers of the arms are..

Cheers, I wondered if it was the lower control arms that were fecked...will do some more research .I kinda just left it with them instead of overseeing the job....big mistake.....

You still never answered if they replaced both upper and lower. How about putting a list up here that shows exactly what has been replaced? That way we won't all be playing a guessing game with you.

Confused. You apparently had the car in the shop to get suspension work done. You got the car back, and while driving it you noticed something not right. Did you not pay for the repairs? If so, you should know what was replaced and what wasn't. Doesn't seem that difficult...

Wheel Alignment ? if upper control arms were done they need to be loaded then tightened to spec. If lower were done this doesn't need to be done.

Usually, A wrong but similar arm does that, Don't recall exactly but it was a 5 or 7 series arm that made it look like the photo above.

Didn't change upper, only lower with Lemforder from ECS.
You think I could be that??

I had a similar issue, changed all the front suspension, shimmy still there. In the end I fitted new brake discs and the problem went away. The old ones weren't warped at all so not sure why they caused the problem.

I don't have a shimmy, which you think I would with one wheel offset like that.

    Suspension issues (continued)....

Did you ever figure out what was the issue? I’m having the same issue even after verifying the right part numbers.
