    Question Valvetronic motor reset; E60 , 2008 528i

I just replaced my valve cover because PCV was bad. That problem is solved, but the engine has what seems to be a dead cylinder/dead miss. Could that be due to the valvetronic motor not resetting properly, or is it likely something else, like a bad coil pack. The engine was running fine before changing valve cover, just had that annoying squeak from bad PCV. I read in another thread that a 'battery reset' (disconnecting the battery and leaving the cables touching overnight) might solve the problem. Any thoughts on this? What is the likelihood that a coil pack went bad during cover replacement? I will appreciate any comments/suggestions.

Did you double check your connections? Which cylinder is missing?

ss109 - thanks for the reply. Haven't identified which one. Gonna take to a foreign car shop to read w/ scanner.

The valvetronic motor will not cause a misfire. I never, ever reset mine after removing and installing them. They run a reference run on their own.
