Video tutorial on how to remove the rear seat in a BMW E39. This particular car I am working with is a 1997 BMW 540i sedan with non fold down rear seats. So if you do have rear fold down seats, the procedure is different.
Tools/Supplies Needed:
-12mm socket
-3/8 ratchet
-3 extension
Procedure:
-start by pulling up the rear seat bottom
-there will be clips on both sides, so you need to go to each side of the vehicle
-slip your hand under the cushion and pull up hard
-once unclipped, then pull the seat forward so the seat belt latches are removed from their pockets
-lift out
-there will be two bolts exposed which holds the rear seat into place that are located at the bottom on the sides of the car
-these are a 12mm and there is one on each side
-these can be easily accessed using a 3/8 drive ratchet and 3 extension
-the seat back needs to be lifted straight up to disconnect the tabs
-the seat belts may hold it back slightly so you can pull them out if need be
-once the seat is loose, then pull the seat belts out and tuck them behind the seat back
-this just helps for removal so it doesnt catch up
-reinstallation in reverse of removal
