Hey e34 owners!
I'm starting my first turbo build on any car. I used to build saabs, but have always wanted a turbo rwd, specifically an old bmw (something about the circle headlights). I bought a cheap specimen from the side of a why in wisconsin, and have since been slowly bringing her back to glory.
I have an 1995 525i m50b25 vanos 5 speed
Currently with about 194k
I have high horsepower goals (500-600hp)I want to reach, and my girl is completely supporting my habit here. So I am allowed to go big. I've done a few things to the car so far that it has needed which I will list here:
Fixed:
Full brakes & rotors
Starter
Spark plugs
One ignition coil was bad
Fixed e brake
Current list of goals(in order):
Fix oil pan gasket leak
Full front suspension kit
Front poly bushes
Ground control coilovers
Replace rusty doors
Rear poly bushes
Replace exterior body trim
Replace front and rear bumper with m5
Paint
Race dynamics arbs
Fully rebuild engine w/ forged internals
Possibly bore/stroke (questions on this)
Stage ? Clutch
Rebuild/replace transmission
Turbo
Most likely will add to this list eventually too.
Currently my questions lay in the rebuilding of the engine. I want to 'safely' get my car to those horsepower ranges with fi. Is boring/stroking going to be nessecary or will I get there with full forged internals? Might be nice to have some leeway with the power incase I decide to tune it up more in the future.
It's currently at a 5 year build in my budget. I read these forums every single day for more info on the subjects of fi, boring/stroking, ect.
Thought id start my own thread, so I have a place to put all this fun stuff.
Thanks for reading!
