    Battery grounds at chassis

My 1991 850i has just one grounding terminal at the left taillight area rear of the battery. Just saw a pic in the electrical manual where the are two chassis ground terminals, spaced about 3 inches apart, separate posts for left and right batteries’ negative cables. What is in my car is just one ground terminal with the L&R cables piggybacked to each other. Which is which? Did BMW switched to a dual post ground system? I’m chasing some charging system gremlins at the moment, insufficient (below normal) charging?

My 91 has both battery grounds tied to the same post.. left side of trunk.

Download the ETM for your car, it'll show you every wire, ground, splice, connector, module, relay, etc...

The lower bolt is for the battery ground (both)
The upper bolt is for the tail light/wiring harness ground.

I have never seen an 8 with two grounds like that. All I have ever seen is one!

It is from the E31 ETK, and the circuit diagram for 1991 shows the two ground points - but, it didn't happen in production and the 1991 models had a single ground point.
