    OEM parts availabilty???

It seems like some of the major and once widely available OEM parts have dried up almost overnight.

Tried to buy a Behr 850 automatic radiator and there is none available anywhere. Only Nissens and other no name brands are presently available. This is the case with almost all online retailers. The Behr radiators used to sell for about $175-200, now BMW sells them fror about $1000 msrp.

The other part that has become mysteriously hard to get is the Bosch auxiliary heater valve. Seems like almost no retailers stock this part any longer and the ones available are the cheap no name brands. It is also labeled as NLA from some retailers. Only Bosch valves being sold is through eBay from a few sellers. OE units from BMW is about $500 whereas the Bosch valves sell for about a third of the same price.

Have not checked the availability of other OEM parts, but pretty sure some of these parts fall into this category also. Does BMW have anything to do with this very unfortunate situation?

I have been running the NISSANS radiator in my 8 for the last 50,000 miles with no problems.
Have you tried www.rockauto.com for the heater valve? I bought a BOSCH unit from them last year for relatively cheap.

For that price go for the custom aftermarket aluminum radiator.

I bought and installed the Nissens a few weeks ago. Everything is working perfectly. Getting back to the Behr, it used to be when 17111723468 is being googled, the Behr would show up in every retailers’ website, now it is the Nissens. The Behr manual 850i/CSi radiator is readily available though... go figure.

I had considered this, but did not know the lead time for Zionsville to build it. Tried to call them a few times, but guess they don’t answer their phone too often. Don’t think they correspond by email either. Also, they need your old auto transmission cooler core to incorporate into their built radiator. I needed to install the radiator asap, so the Nissens was bought and installed.
