Hi Everyone,
I have a 2011 x5m with 37000 miles that has recently developed 2 interrelated problems. The AC has been failing intermittently. It will be working perfectly for a day or so and then fail completely blowing warm humid air out of all vents. It will remain in failure mode for awhile and then function normally. When the AC is in failure mode the rear tailgate also fails along with the cargo bay power outlet and the glovebox light. When the AC is functioning normally, the tailgate returns to normal operation. My independent bmw mechanic says he spent thirty hours on it and was unable to find problem. Is there some control module malfunction that could affect both the tailgate and the AC? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks. Templeton
I hope this can help you with the troubleshooting steps.
I have same problem with AC, without the lights problem.
A mecanic said in a 5 minutes check that the AC COMPRESOR, needed to be replaced.
I resisted to believe it, and went to a AC flushing service, where al pressures where find correct, no leaks and the gas was recirculated and cleaned.
I have a good BMW Diagnostic Scan Tool - iCarsoft BMII
My AC continues working erratically, every day worst.
I think it may be a malfunction of the car computer or a false contact in:
a. Internal motorized vents/doors/flaps. Do you hear them acting 5 minutes after you turn the car off?
b. The electronic combined signals of: inside/out temperature
c. Cooling system temperature or pressure signals.
d. Compresor detection of Idle kick-in speed
e. Erratic disconnection on the compresor magnet, or radiator fan.
I hope ole there is nothing to do with a engine oil leak of the valve cover and a blocked CCV valve that I will service soon.
