I just had a new Walker muffler installed. Came from Rockauto, muffler kit with muffler ($162) + installation kit and shipping came to $260. My local guy charged $80 for installation. Real happy with construction and sound. Appearance is same design and shape as OEM except suppose to be Stainless Steel with aluminized finish. Has low growl maybe little louder than OEM type I had been installing. Getting hard to find many choices. Muffler supposedly has lifetime warranty. Boy that would be good as this will be #4
had a whole walker system installed on my car from exhaust manifold back. according to po records it had hung on the car two yrs. it's a common aftermarket replacement system a la canadian tire or other blah type generic shop. the cat was completely rotten, and most of the insides of the muffler had degraded to rust so the muffler was just a blow thru. the pipes looked to be good quality, but i found the whole system to be heavy. might keep the pipes but need to upgrade the rest for sure.
walker is the first choice the local places push on people who know nothing about cars, down here. I think they get them super cheap so they make a good profit.
No e30s again.
Well, I'll give the Walker a try. I had an ANSA and it lasted about 5 years, the Eberspaecher about 8 years. The shop guy said the Walker seemed heavier and a little harder to install. It sounds about the same. So we'll see how long it lasts.
I had a walker single in, dual out on my old truck. it was fine. I live .5 mile from the ocean and it never started rusting on me so it should be ok
No e30s again.
Just curious if it was the Walker/Dynomax "Super Turbo" muffler? Im looking at getting one to keep the daily quiet
. No mine is the Premium Flow Quiet Flow, looks just like original.

I like the OEM sound, actually the Walker seems just a tad more snarly but still not obnoxious
I had the turbo style, the one I was mentioning in the earlier post. it sounds like a flowmaster so its not quiet when you are a bit up in the rpms. and when decelerating, if you let the engine slow you, it sounds like a hot rod
No e30s again.
So, I’m searching for a cat-back. Ideally I want some noise when I’m having fun but quiet on the interstate. Probably unrealistic but y’all seem to know. Suggestions?

Is this for the 'e' or the 'i'. For the 'e', put a complete 'i' exhaust including cat and down pipes on it. For the 'i', use the stock pipes with a magnaflow muffler. (Not sure which one.) Otherwise, Magnaflow and Supersprint offer cat-back kits.

Sorry, it’s for the i car. This is a tough decision because it seems to me that spending $600+ is necessary to get some racy sound and $300 will be stock sound. I’m thinking the higher cost won’t be worth it to me, so, I may just get the Ansa oem replacement.

there is a stromung catback group buy on another popular forum you might wanna check. technically is closed now but can probably participate if you reach out to scott at stromung.
My experience with Walker is that it's junk. Aluminized steel components that rust out within 2 years if driven daily year around. Stainless is definitely the way to go if you plan on keeping the car for a while. It costs more but will last nearly forever.

My Walker supposedly is the "Walker Quiet Flow SS" and has a life time warranty. Hopefully I won't have to find out whether it's honored or not. So far I like it's sound, pretty much OEM sound but with a little more grrrr.
