New owner question. I've never owned a Z3 before so I don't know what I'm hearing.
When I put the ignition in the start position - before I start the motor- there is a buzzing noise that comes from the front top of the motor. I think it's called the ADS, but I'm not sure.
It sounds like a buzzing sound like a little motor is turning. The little motor buzzing sound will continue until I start the engine. It will then stop buzzing after the car engine starts.
Is this a normal function of the Z3 or am I getting ready to have problems with my car.
Thanks for helping.
Could be normal, the SAP, secondary air pump.
My 1997 1.9 does not have one, thankfully.
I don't know of the SAP comes on before starting, but it goes off soon after starting.

I got the stethoscope out and the buzzing sound seems to be coming from the Idle Air Control Valve. I don't understand if the buzz is caused by a mechanical component inside the Idle Control Valve or if it is electrical energy resonating. Is this normal? Help.
The valve is electrical.

If the idle is OK, the valve must be OK.
