Took my car in to shady car tire shop for stuck windows and I get my car covered in grease from a 69 chevelle above it and these wires hanging in the rear tire. I see they plug in to each other. I have 91 e30 318is.
Probably ABS or brake pad wear sensor wires
can't see anything. there are abs, speedo chopper wheel, and brake pad wear sensors back there could be one of those.
edit : hotdish got it already lol
was gonna add brake wear sensor wires are often cut and shorted to each when cheap pads are installed. it closes the circuit to disable the brake wear light. indy and other shops used to routinely do this without telling the owner

I agree with Jeff, the brake wear sensors are just a big PITA. Just because you wire them together doesn't mean the red light goes away. A proper sized piece of black tape over the red brake wear light is my preferred treatment.
