    Lightbulb 335i mods

    Hello all,
Am looking for opinions from the experts here as am a rookie when it comes to mods. I have an n55 with jb4, performance intake, charge pipe, down pipe and custom exhaust. Does anyone know how I can add at least another 100 horsepower for under $2000. Thanks in advance for your help

Your factory turbo is too small to add 100 rwhp on top of your current mods. Try N54tech for info on the N54 and N55. You will likely need a turbo upgrade.

You won’t add another 100rwhp but with meth and an intercooler you can get some more out of your stock turbo. I would save some cash and ditch the stock turbos and go with a single. Something like. 6262 or similar. I’ve seen some very good results from those setups.

Try N54tech for the best N54/N55 info. Let us know what you learn so the N54/N55 interest here can grow.

I would guess single turbo will be between 5-8k+. You are most likely going to require an upgraded clutch, upgraded fuel system, def an intercooler.

n54tech is def the place to research.

i have a 535xi. I have dp’s, fmic, water/meth, intake, charge pipe with a tial, cobb with a custom tune. Previous owner had my car dyno’d at 400awhp/474tq. Not sure what dyno it was on.

where in west ny are you?

Vr6dubny has a twin turbo N54 motor, which will make a little more power on the stock turbos than the OP's single turbo N55. I don't think a mild turbo upgrade for the N55 will cost $5k given the OP already has an IC and meth.

I read n54 rather than the n55. I did not read intercooler or meth though. Already being single turbo will
    make things easier.

Probably a place like RB Turbo offers an upgrade with bigger wheels on the stock housing for an easy bolt on mild upgrade. Also Pure Turbo, Vargas and Dinan but Dinan is too expensive.

For singles, Doc Race, JPworkz or On3(change the turbo and wastegates to name brand).

For twin hybrids, look into Pure, Vargas, RB's or the new MMP's.

You will definitely need to upgrade your LPFP as well as add PI for help with fueling up top to get big power. Look into MHD for ECU flashing for the tune. If you are auto look into xHP flash to up the amount of torque the trans can take.

I think the OP needs a shop nearby that can do everything for him. He does not seem to be able to do any research or ask any specific questions. There are probably a bunch of shops that can take bus money. I'd recommend Maximum Psi in NJ but am not up to date on late model 335i mods and who is doing what. Max Psi deals with Pure for S55 so I think it could do an N55 Pure upgrade.

Actually a little reading comprehension would come in handy for you. If you read the post I did ask a specific question which was how to add an additional 100 horses for under 2k. As far as research, that’s why am here it’s part of doing research but I guess that flew right by you. Bimmer clinic/ maximum psi have done all the work that’s been done to my car but neither them nor any other local shop takes bus money to do it that’s why I asked if anyone knows how to get it done for under 2k. But hey if you are in this line of work perhaps I can take it to you for bus money

Phonsalb did answer your question. You can do bolt-on's all you want, but you will most likely need to upgrade the turbos as they max out at 450whp. Asking how do add an additional 100hp for 2k is a loaded question too. You could buy some used hybrid turbos for 2k, but you then need to upgrade you fueling setup and if you're not full bolt on you can add that additional cost too. Even full bolt on would most likely exceed 2k minus the upgraded turbos.

This forum has a wealth of knowledge, but if you want more N54/N55 specific questions read up on spoolstreet, N54post or E90post. You will find everything you need there.

    Good luck.
