I have a 2006 325i. Recently the passsenger did headlight has gone out. These are xenon adaptive headlights. The low , high and halo are all out. I checked the fuse they are good . Tried changing the xenon bulb still no go. Now after the recent storm the light for the adaptive headlight has come on and there is water inside. The lense are very badly oxidized. I would like to get this resolved and I am guessing the ballast. Is bad on the non working light. What do you think is the best option to fix it . Can you replace the whole light unit if so is there one that good but not bmw expensive that is plug and play . Thanks
That's a tough one...
Since you have adaptive xenon lights, you'll get all kinds of errors if you get an aftermarket headlight. I could give you the software to code out the warning lights. On the other hand, all those modules in your headlight would be fairly expensive. There are a number of things to look at here. First check the wiring inside the headlight, the insulation will commonly flake off. Adding water into the mix could lead to corroded, shorted, or dissolved wires. The ballast could be water damaged, but that shouldn't effect all 3 lights. The FRM could also have detected a problem and shut off power. I can give you free software to reset it. I think the first step will be making sure you get power at the headlight connector, then weight the cost of aftermarket headlights against repair.
