Reverse light switch wiring for manual swap

Okay as I am almost ready for my auto to manual conversion on my 530i, I need to figure out the wiring involved once I get the trans in, and a friend of mine did a 6 speed swap in his e38 and was able to just wire the reverse lights into his cluster, as opposed to wiring all the way to the DME, and I wanted to know if anyone has done their wiring this way or if there are any links that could help me figure out the electrical end of this swap. The I6 vs V8 swaps are very different. You'll just be confused if you look at 740 or 540 swap info.

Look up the various I6 manual swap threads by Stuck and by blackknight530i. They spell all the stuff out you need.

There is a lot of info out there it appears to be very DME dependant and coding at times if you don't go around that.

Thanks I’ll prob just end up making the harness to the DME if I have to but was hoping there was an easy route to just get it driveable
