In have a 2008 BMW 328i N52 engine with about 118k on the motor. I replaced the plugs at 100k and thermostat at 105k. I知 having an issue with my Crankshaft position sensor (failing slowly) after an attempted replacment (the new sensor wouldn稚 register) i put the old one back in so i get the standard SES light. Also my fwd upper o2 sensor is failing. Just wanted to give a back story
currently every now and again i start the car and it runs like crap when its idling, but the second i turn it off even if it is not warm it is completely fine no issues with the idle. It has me baffled so I知 curious to know if you thinks its just crankshaft sensor issue or maybe something else going on. I under stand there are 2 major issues the fwd upper 02 sensor and the crank sensor but I知 just curious if this has happened to any other person
We did a crank sensor and we updated the eye level(the newest software) using ista, this may help
I miss not sure what ista is, I have ncsexpert, and all the other standard factory and dealer software. Is this something you that is hard to do?
You need ISTA-P and an ICOM if you want to update the integration level (i-level). Definitely replace that crank sensor.
If you have INPA or ISTA, check for fault codes first - they may give you additional info.
