Hey everyone, I'm new to bimmerforums, and a new owner of a 2004 bmw x5. I am trying to get it registered but can't get my service engine soon light off. Codes keep throwing p0340 and p0365. I have changed both parts twice, thinking I may have bought a faulty part. After doing this my service engine soon light is STILL on and I'm still pulling these codes. It also has a rough idle, not sure if its related.
After changing I notice that I get better gas mileage, and its starting easier, but light is still on and still pulling codes.. please help! If possible I would like to do this myself, as I really can't afford expensive shop costs.
Thoughts, suggestions, ideas? all welcome, thank you!
First off, generic P-codes are very unreliable,
If you care to trust them, then I must insist on using ONLY OE-OEM replacement parts,
otherwise you add unwanted electrical gremlins, electronic anomalies to the equation!
If you had researched this forum thoroughly, you would have noticed-for critical BMW electronics,
the recommendations to USE ONLY BMW OE-OEM replacement parts!! Not specifically yelling, just trying to emphasize the importance!
I would recommend FCPEuro as a great option for parts in your situation, as they supply both options with perks!!

Am truly trying to be helpful, so you don't waste time and money.
Yea I would have an independent shop read the faults and see what they get, yours could be wrong.
Also, after you changed the parts, did you clear the codes? If not it will take a little while for them to go off on their own.
