I’m a wagon and hatchback guy. I don’t much care for SUVs, though I recognize some of the best engineering in the industry has made them something better than a truck with a cramped mini van grafted on top. My first BMW was an E39 wagon. The Z3 fits my profile pretty well.
The new BMWs don’t really appeal to me with the exception of one of the recent 3-series diesel wagons. I’ll look at the new Z4, but I think I’d be reluctant to sell anything to make room for it.

As a whole, new cars do not interest me
There are a few exceptions, I do like most of the newer M offerings, Porsches still look good (I actually quite like the Macan, lol) and the AMG, RS, etc...
But I honestly think this is the best looking car for sale right now and if I could get any new car, it'd be one of these

I think BMW's most classic cars were between the 1970's 3.0 and a few of their models from the late 1990's, early 2000's. 1990's M5's and 7 series were far better cars that today as far as quality and understated styling. The E46 M3 was also a beautiful car. I think the newest BMW I could for would be an E92 M3. It's really a shame that BMW doesn't make any decent lightweight sports cars these days. Even the M2 is quite a heavy car.
