Slightly off-topic, but Koenigsegg just set a few world records at a very high speed on public roads. Nevada Highway 160 between Pahrump and Vegas.

I was stoked to see that. Now people can shut up about the overpriced Volkswagen boat that used to hold the record.

Iowa gets a really bad grade for their civil forfeiture laws. They were probably looking for something to "forfeit" from an out-of-state driver in a nice car.

I do so I can understand.
I am a huge fan of the open road, ive taken many trips mostly in bmw cars, once 6k miles on a BMW K75RT.
This is a perfect chance to tell one of my favorite road memories, 4 summers ago, I was lucky enough to get to drive a '99 540i from portland OR to Skagway AK, then ferried it down to Sitka AK and to prince rupert BC, where we drove to WI and then to CA and back to portland.
Now when we where deep in the BC, i wasn't sure what to expect out of road quality, never been there. There was a section northwest of prince george where hwy 16 going east continued to prince rupert, but we turned north on hwy 37 in Kitwanga to head into the Yukon about 1000 miles away.
Fellas, I tell ya one of the fondest memories in my life is hitting hwy 37 north, with nothing but 1000 miles following slight curves through these huge BC mountains and river valleys. Maybe an old couple in an RV every 100 miles or so.
Oh man I let that car sing for a couple days straight, cruising easy 100+ mostly more like 120-130, making these rv's look completely still, i would slow down to pass them at about 90mph or so, I just remember how fast we would come up on them, from a tiny point to a huge bloated house on wheels going 40mph in 5 seconds. My god was that fun, maybe the most in my life. Just open road and a gas station every 100 miles. The roads were fine for the most part, pretty good actually. Some construction here and there but nothing to much for the 540i.
Then when it was time to head south out of the Yukon to skagway AK, those mt. peaks and windy roads were absolutely epic. I am so impressed with how that car was able to perform, the effortless feel at 130, taking corners at 100+ and being rock solid. Was an amazing journey and I am so lucky to have been able to do that.
Once we made it to Sitka, AK, I had blown the valley pan gasket and or one of the o-ring in those back cooling tubes, and needed new tires. Fixed that then off to WI, off course cruising the US sucked because of traffic and police everywhere. But I will always remember how that beast performed, what an amazing machine.
Thank you for letting me share!
That sounds like an awesome trip, Nelsondl. I have always wanted to go to Alaska!
