    valve cover gasket job...........washers -11127838077

    what do u all say?

    can I re use these washers?.....they are over 2 bux each new!

    -11127838077....99 2.8 m52 tu


    I would ASSUME they are re usable?

    I am all for keeping our cars fresh and long lasting, but I also feel many parts just dont wear out?...

    Those are ok to reuse. It's the rubber seal on the cap nut that typically need replacement.

    They don't__OR SHOULDN'T__get tightened so much as to deform the washer.

    The rubber grommet/seals harden over time, and expecting them to reseal under those conditions would be a risk. On a customer's car, they are always replaced with the head cover gskt. On my own cars, if they're still soft and pliable, I'll reuse them__same goes for the gasket itself (but I put a limit of 2X, because after that, it's too much trouble to remove the sealant from the corners of the half-moons).

    its all orig on the car now.....18 yrs.....Im hoping the washers are NOT deformed from the factory

    I had seen vcg "KITS" for sale.....but I really dont want to buy a kit if its not needed.

    I replaced all of them when I put a new VCG.
    Mine were not soft as expected, so I decided to replace with brand new ones.

    it sounds like u r talking about the rubber grommets, and not the washers!

    Oh... yes! You are right, I'm talking about rubber grommets. Sorry if I've been OT....

    By the way, I didn't replaced washers during my job; they were in good shape with no detectable distortion/damage.
