I have knuckle dragged thru more posts, comments, pics... and I have parked my ego now. I'm asking about the wiring diagram behind my 2001 740il sport head unit that has the flip down full screen with cassette, 6disc changer, cd rom GPS.
To give a basic outline of the system build;
Seicane 8.8" touchscreen head unit w/ OBDII (only for e39, no e38 available) have to mod that
(2 sets)Rockford Fosgate 5 1/4 separates frt/rear doors ( low mod level)
(2) RF DVC 8" shallow subs on rear deck (mid-bass) (good bit of mods)
(2) RF P-3 15" subs (11 on a 10 scale of mods)
RF P1000X for subs w/sub control
P600X4 for highs and 8's
2 farad cap
This is reminiscent of a E32 build that I miss so much. Way bigger power and way more mods.
Kind of a mid life crisis minus the Gold chain buried in grey chest hair, open shirt, convert Corvette.
The fiberglass, Plexiglass, LED's are old hat to me, what has had my head spinning is that I cant seem to find a head-unit w/ DSP wiring diagram to use steeringwheel controls to wire to an aftermarket deck. power/ground/illum/is easily found with a meter. RCA's will run to the amps and I will utilize factory door speaker wires to run the separates, to eliminate the torture of running new, they will run off the front channel (don't care about frt/rear fade). The 8's on the rear deck will be off the back channel w/ an approx 70hz cut off. 15's will be on a Plexi baffle , cones at the back mags at the front, 10" back from the crease of the metal at the midpoint of the rear seat, trunk-side.
If the steering wheel controls are too much hassle Ill reach for the face and not care.
I wish I could post pics ( admin ) of the two harnesses that are behind the flip down cassette DSP GPS unit. For the record, 7 little flex tabs then 4 phillips screws removes the old stocker. I will now replace the glovebox and all the wood trim that had no influence on the removal.
My last system was built when the internet was a sparkle in someones eye so, many hrs were spent throwing poo at a wall.
I am asking to the busted knuckle folks to keep my blood letting to a minimum and my head banging to something more of a rock genre.
OK I am real lost what do you need

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds like the content of your post is: "where can I find wiring with the signal from the steering wheel controls?"
The answer to that is that the steering wheel control signals are sent over the I-Bus. The I-Bus is used for tons of functions throughout the car, and so the wire can be found throughout the car too.
Locate a white wire with grey stripe and yellow dots. One can be found in the head unit harness, in a splice near the radios in the trunk, and a myriad of other places, whatever is convenient for you. If your aftermarket head unit does not interface with the I-Bus natively, you might have to find an adapter to purchase.

Sorry to be so wordy and vague. The two factory harnesses behind the head unit, is there an aftermarket plug n play that ties into them to wire to an aftermarket head unit?
