So I got the wifey a clean '03 3.0 that appeared to be well taken care of however on it's first day home it started leaving little puddles of coolant on the ground. At first I feared my current string of rotten luck has manifested itself of form of needing a complete coolant system rebuild right away. However, after a few cynical invocations to god, my prayers were answered upon a second look at our leaky little X5. It appears that the plastic 90 on top of the expansion tank has an air bleed screw, and the plastic base where the bleed screws into has a hairline crack.
The problem is that I am perusing the Rock auto site and I see many a different hose, oring, tank, or gaskets put no plastic 90 looking fitting. Does anybody know what the parts stores or BMW has decided to name this bleeding part?
Maybe a pic will help....20171016_204639.jpg
That’s part of the upper radiator hose. They’re fairly cheap. I’d advise to go with an oem bmw part.
Thanks. Their upper radiator hose pics weren't showing that part, but I'll just head to local parts counter and maybe their diagrams are more complete.
One more thing about our new leaky little dog... when you turn the engine off it flashes a message saying check oil level. It did and it was on the low side of the stick, but still in normal range. I added until max mark but still get the message. So I'm guessing it's similar to my e39 540 which had a little box bolted to the bottom of the bottom oil pan. It wouldn't be hard to change in that car, but I have a feeling that I won't be that lucky on this one. If it was my car, I'd let ride and check the oil a little more often, but since this is wifey's car and she it under direct orders to stop and call when anything usual happens... I'd hate to have to teach her how to check oil... That's can only end with me sleeping on the dog bed for two weeks...
Part number is 11 53 7 500 733. https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...-11537500733oe
Sounds like it's time for the oil level sensor to be replaced, BMW part number 12617508003, it's located down on the bottom of the oil pan, very easy to change during an oil change.
The sensor will look like this
As for the plastic bend, as the guys said it's part of the rad hose. Parts not sitting at the same angle in the image on our site, but you'll get the idea. It's BMW part number 11537500733.

Thanks guys. You pretty much did all the work for the parts counter guy.
I gots no excuses now...
This 3.0i water pump and thermostat DIY should help you along. Now's a good time to update the cooling system, it sounds like it might be all original on your car.
