I've noticed since I've had the car that when the passenger door is opened all the way there's a clunk. I finally looked to day and it appears that the upper pin is loose in the hinge. I know most cars have little bushings inside the hinge where the door pin is then inserted. Is the the same for the E31? I can find hinge repair kits for a bunch of other BMWs but not the E31. Is my only solution to just buy a whole new hinge? They're only $50 but if I could save some money and not have to relalign the door I'd like to.
What model and year is this is regards to? I'd be happy to check our catalog to see if we offer just the part in question, instead of the whole hinge.

I had this problem once as well and it was the door pin which attaches the door brake to the frame of the car. In my case it had come loose. I would suggest removing the rubber boot over the door brake to investigate. Simply stretch it up and pull back gently - it fits over pivot points of the door pin.
If you are indeed missing a sleeve/bushing, you may be able to get away with steeling a part from this: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...h/41511960998/
I believe our cars use M8 bolts for the hinges, whereas most BMWs use an M6 setup.
