Just moved from Vermont to South Carolina. I shipped one car and drove my 330 vert the 1000 miles. 6 hours the first day and 10 hours the second day. After the first half of day one i never went below 80. The car never skipped a beat. Took about 2.5 tanks of gas. I got this car a few months ago. Replaced the ccv, plugs, oil, power steering pump p, water pump, tstat, radiator, expansion tank and a couple hoses. Now that I'm moved I plan to get a tranny flush. I never doubted the engine would make it. I was a little concerned about the tranny. I really love this car.

how many miles on the car? Mine (2001 330ci) has 130k and I'm considerering a tranny flush, but I've heard a couple schools of thought on if the flush is good idea??
115,000 miles. I've heard both schools of thought. I have a second car if something goes wrong but I don't think it will.

i did the tranny flush a long time ago. no issues and seemed to help a little. go for it, it wont be bad.
Just finished 800 miles trip. These cars sure a pleasure to drive and feels great after work and knowledge of a refresh. And heck yeah, don't even hesitate - service the train. I changed at 120k. Quieter and smoother shifts plus going to save you money and heartache down the road. Change it unless you're have tran issues (usually over 175k miles). I dropped pan, changed filter, and then replace balance using tran cooler hose. Use tran fluid meeting BMW's LLxxx spec
Glad you have finally moved Lee! Watch out for leaking roof issues that plague e46 verts.
Best of luck at your new place!
Also...to better identify is a 'blue' sticker to the pan.....Saying GENERAL MOTORS...ZF German attaches an aluminum 1"x 3/4" aluminum tag...riveted to the TM body an identification code...GM uses glued (blue) stickers to identify.....One way to distinguish...
